The Bohinj ski region unites several ski centers, the most interesting of which are Vogel and Kobla. The resort got its name from Lake Bohinj. The lake is framed by steep alpine slopes, above which rises the peak of the Julian Alps - Mount Triglav (2684 m). At an altitude of 569 m, the main skiing region begins at Mount Vogel (1880 m). You get to the beginning of the slopes on a high-speed "gondola" in just a few minutes. The bird's-eye view of the Alps delights and fascinates. The Vogel ski area is considered the snowiest of all Alpine resorts at a similar height. The slopes are good for intermediate and well-trained skiers. The season usually runs from December to April.
6 km from the lake, on the border with the National Park, near the resort of Bohinjska Bystrica, there is Mount Kobla (1480 m).
A ski-bus runs between the ski centers, stopping near each hotel. The ride for the ski pass owners is free.
The resort offers: alpine carving ski school, snowboard school, off-piste skiing, children's ski school, sledding, ice skating, parachuting into the valley, cross-country trails, etc.
In optimal snow conditions, Bohinj turns into a cross-country skiing paradise. In total, there is more than 70 km of cross-country skiing trails in the Upper and Lower Bohinj valleys, Pokljuka and Soriška Planina. Pokljuka biathlon centre has been hosting the world class biathlon events from 1992/93..
